Announcements made during the Steve Jobs conference at the MacWorld New York show:
new iMac: 17' flat-panel (1440x900 pixels) and Nvidia Gforce4 graphic card.
Quicktime 6 has MPEG4 support. MPEG-4 includes AAC audio, a new audio format made by... Adobe (!)
Apple announces Jaguar as Mac OS X 10.2 with 150 new features. It will cost $129 and will be delivered in stores on August 24th
Sherlock 3 completely rewritten
Inkwell technology: handwriting recognition integrated into MacOS X, will work with every application.
Rendezvous technology: automatic discovery of devices (computers, printers...) on network without configuration.
Mail application largely improved: search in every mailbox, better handling of multiple email accounts, new junk-mail filters, integrated quicktime
AdressBook app, a sytem wide database for organizing contacts, has been updated
BlueTooth (affordable wireless technology) is integrated in MacOSX
iChat: a chat client working with AIM (AOL)
iTools services will be replaced by ".Mac" on September 30th
iCal : a calendaring application helping to organize your life's events...
iTunes 3 : adds play count and "smart" playlists taking advantage of the play count feature.
new iPods 5/10/20G, 10% thinner, new remote, case, improved software including calendar support. It now supports Windows.
iSync a new app/technology to automatically and easeley synchronize datas (icalendar and AdressBook) between phones, personnal organizers, iPod and differents macs (even thru internet using .mac), using bluetoosh, USB, Airport or Firewire ports.
No new (faster) macs were announced !!!!!! ;-(
