EDIROL announces new USB interface in Japan

Computer Hardware : EDIROL announces new USB interface in Japan - macmusicThe newly announced UA-25 audio/midi interface for USB 1.1 is the newest addition to their UA lineup. Much like the newer UA models, this one has a professional feel to it with its metallic body instead of the cheap plastic body. The form is also sleek with its dual neutrik xlr-1/4" combo inputs on the front and 1/4" headphone ports, combined with the 1/4", RCA, TOSlink, and MIDI ports on the back. The inputs can have phantom power as well as lo/hi impedance. The A/D converter can operate at up to 24bits/96khz. Again, this model is targeted towards more serious users 'on the go' and features USB bus powering and advanced power circuitry to ensure stable operation on finicky USB bus power. Furthermore, they have put in an improved clock generator which should reduce the jitter on audio signals. Finally, they added a hardware limiter which should be handy for field recording situation to take care of nasty digital distortion on unexpected peaks. Although interfaces are hard to tell from specs, EDIROL has released a strong contender to established standards like the mBox.
