Avid has announced the upcoming release of the Mbox 3 Mini, the Mbox 3 Mini and The Mbox 3 Pro.
The Mbox 3 Mini ($399) is the intro Avid Mbox interface. It is a 24-bit/48kHz, USB bus-powered 2 x 2 interface. It has 1 XLR mic/line combo input with 48V phantom power, 2 -1/4" instrument inputs, balanced output, headphone out, a mix control for zero-latency monitoring, and monitor volume knob. Rock-solid drivers ensure hardware compatibility with most major audio software (Logic, Live, Cubase, and more).
The Mbox 3 ($549) is a 4-in, 4-out USB 2.0 audio interface, with two microphone preamps (switchable between combi jack and 1/4" DI). In addition to the higher-speed USB 2.0 connection (up from USB 1.1 in the previous rev) are the Avid-branded version's improved 24-bit/96k converters (the Mbox 2 maxed out at 24/48). Borrowing from the new Vid-branded HD interfaces, the Mbox 3 also adds switchable soft-clip limiting to its preamps for "classic overdriven tape saturation sound." The new Mbox also provides DSP-driven virtual routing and processing of select digital plug effects. Also there's a built-in guitar tuner. Connectivity on the Mbox 3 is rounded off with MIDI amd S/PDIF digital I/O. Rock-solid drivers ensure hardware compatibility with most major audio software (Logic, Live, Cubase, and more).
The Mbox 3 Pro ($749) is a 24-bit/192kHz, USB bus-powered 8 x 8 interface. It has 4 XLR mic inputs with 48V phantom power, 4 x 1/4" TRS line inputs, , 6 balanced outputs 2 unbalanced Alt line outputs, 2 x 1/4" headphone outs, onboard DSP, and an assignable Pro Tools multifunction button to give you fast access to software functions, and more. Rock-solid drivers ensure hardware compatibility with most major audio software (Logic, Live, Cubase, and more).
Availability TBA.
