Mac & Audacity : end of the story ?

New Mac version of Audacity, the famous, free and open source audio editor, could never be released.
As it is said in the editor dedicated forum, version 1.3.4 and upper will be released only if some kind soul want to compile and debug them.
Naturally, PC and Linux users are not concerned...
Who's said that Mac-users are always ranting and raving ? Sometimes, it seems to be justified.
