Computer Hardware : RME converts MADI - macmusicRME has a thing for MADI interfaces and converters and will release shortly two new MADI products, the MADI Converter and the ADI-6432 MADI to AES Converter. The MADI Converter is a 1U rack featuring 6 independent bidirectional converters, each 12 Ins have status LEDs. It supports all MADI formats: 56-channel, 64-channel, any sample rate even out of specifications, and will transfer "invisible" control bits too. Range covers 100 meters using coaxial cables and up to 2000 by using optical cables. A MIDI distributor send a MIDI In to 3 MIDI Out. Available in April.

The ADI-6432 MADI to AES Converter is a 2U rack, supporting 64 channels at up to 48 kHz, 32 channels at up to 96, and 16 channels at up to 192 kHz, all at 24 bit. All channels are transfered via either a single cable, either MADI coaxial or MADI optical. 97 status LED help the operations. You can cascade units with sample accuracy. The ADI-6432 features also: SteadyClock, direct clocking via MADI, full compatibility with third-party, pass along "invisible" transfer of MIDI as also RS232 serial data via the MADI stream. The ADI-6432 is MIDI controllable, using standard the MIDI DIN connector or MIDI over MADI. Available in May.
