Waves Version 4.0 Adds Mac OS X Support

Waves software version 4.0 initially offers OS X support for TDM, AS, RTAS and VST, with other formats to follow
Version 4.0 will initially support TDM, AS, RTAS and VST, while forthcoming releases will support the full gamut of plug-in formats under Macintosh OS X. The powerful, UNIX-based multithreaded nature of the OS X operating system makes it ideal for audio, and allows the highly efficient DSP optimization coding schemes developed by Waves to be used to their fullest capability, maximizing single and dual processor availability for DSP operations, freeing up the power needed to run many more plug-ins, and in the case of host-based systems such as Nuendo 2.x, making it possible to handle significantly more tracks and simultaneous functions.
Waves software includes all operating system versions on the same media, so existing Macintosh OS 9.x users can upgrade to the OS X versions, as can Windows users making the switch.
"Since its release almost two years ago, Apple's Macintosh OS X has proved itself to be one of the most powerful, stable and audio-optimized operating systems available, in tests and in the field," said Gilad Keren, CEO and co-founder of Waves Ltd. "Now that all the primary digital audio workstation applications are available for OS X, and it is the operating system supported by Apple, it is only right that users should enjoy the benefits of the functionality and features of the entire Waves line on this unique platform."
