Digidesign announces Pro Tools 7 software (shipping soon). The new software will be available for Pro Tools|HD, Pro Tools LE , and Pro Tools M-Powered systems. Pro Tools 7 software is also a cross-platform release, supporting Mac OS10.4 ("Tiger"). New Pro Tools features new music creation tools such as Instrument Tracks for simple and straightforward integration of virtual instruments, non-destructive real-time MIDI processing, and the ability to work with industry-standard REX and ACID files. It also includes new optimizations for our host processing engine that boosts RTAS plug-in counts by as much as 150% on multi-processor computers.

Anyone who purchased a new Pro Tools|HD, Pro Tools LE, or an upgrade to Pro Tools TDM 6.9.x or Pro Tools LE 6.9x software on or after September 1, 2005, is automatically eligible for a free upgrade to the corresponding version of Pro Tools 7 software. Current Pro Tools M-Powered customers are eligible for a free update to Pro Tools M-Powered 7 software. Complete upgrade information will be available when Pro Tools 7 software ships.

Digidesign also introduces two new Pro Tools 7 Software Upgrade PLUS options — available for Pro Tools|HD and Pro Tools LE systems — enabling existing customers to upgrade to Pro Tools 7 software and receive two additional plug-ins, all at a tremendous value. The Upgrade PLUS options are available only until December 20, 2005.

- The standard upgrade price for Pro Tools HD 7 is $175
- The standard upgrade price forPro Tools LE 7 is $75.

The Upgrade PLUS options allow customers to increase the value of their upgrade by adding two powerful plug-ins at a fraction of the regular price, as follows:

- Pro Tools HD 7 Upgrade PLUS: $245 - Upgrade to Pro Tools HD 7 software and receive authorizations for any two of the following plug-ins: DINR, ReVibe, Pultec Bundle, Slightly Rude Compressor, Smack!, Synchronic.

- Pro Tools LE 7 Upgrade PLUS: $99 - Upgrade to Pro Tools LE 7 software and choose from any two of the following plug-ins: Smack!, Slightly Rude Compressor, Synchronic, Pultec Bundle ,DINR.

An iLok USB Smart Key (sold separately) and Internet access are required to authorize Pro Tools HD 7 software as well as the plug-ins for both Pro Tools HD 7 Upgrade PLUS and Pro Tools LE 7 Upgrade PLUS options.
