LinPlug releases CronoX 2

Saturday January 4, 2003. 12:55 PM, by Francois Déchery Virtual Instrument > LinPlug
Virtual Instrument : LinPlug releases CronoX 2 - macmusicLinPlug announces the release of the CronoX 2. The CronoX 2 is a highly flexible, easy-to-use, VST sample synthesizer. The instrument is monotimbral, twenty-four note polyphonic and features a modular design that includes four types of audio Generator, a multi-mode filter, a modulation envelope, two syncable LFOs, an eight-by-eight Modulation Matrix and a stereo effects unit containing a Drive effect as well as six different effects processors.

At the heart of the CronoX 2 are its unique audio Generators which can be used to create an extensive range of waveforms from rich, warm analog to "way out there" weirdness! Four types of generator are available: Analogue, TimeSamp, Schrader, and LoopSamp.
The 64-bit Analogue oscillator can be used to produce classic analog-style waveforms ranging from square to sawtooth.
The TimeSamp Generator resembles a conventional sampler: you load a WAV or AIFF file into the Generator and then trigger it. Although only one sample is used, what you can do with this one sample is unique. You can time-stretch it in realtime (time is available as modulation destination!), pitch-shift it without affecting the duration, and you can use key tracking to control the Time parameter, allowing you to create really weird sample-based waveforms!
The Schrader Generator is another unique LinPlug design that creates a wavetable from any sample. Finally, although the Loop Sampler appears to function much like a conventional sampler, its start point and loop points can be individually modulated, once again providing great creative potential. All four Generators can be used for AM and FM synthesis. All in all, the creative options are enormous, especially for those in search of new and unusual sounds with which to expand their sonic palette.

The CronoX 2 features a flexible multimode filter. The cutoff frequency has its own dedicated ADSFR envelope. The CronoX 2's sophisticated effects section consists of a Drive effect and a separate stereo effects unit comprising six effects processors including Delay, Chorus, Phaser, Filter, Reverb and Stereo Delay. All processors have numerous modulation capabilities.
The CronoX 2 furthermore has a dedicated ADSFR Modulation Envelope, two independent LFOs, both of which can be synced to the tempo of the song, and a sophisticated "Modulation Matrix". This "virtual patchbay" allows you to create eight custom routings from any of 18 modulation sources to 23 modulation destinations. You can route velocity, aftertouch, MIDI controllers and internal sources like the CronoX 2's versatile LFOs to a whole bunch of destinations, adding life, movement and energy to your sounds.

The license fee is US$ 59.00. Owners of CronoX 1 can upgrade at a reduced fee of US$ 14.99.
