Sagan Technology just released a new version of its sequencer software, Metro 6.1.0.5. Metro stands alone as a complete and integrated MIDI, audio and video production system. The audio system supports up to 64 audio tracks. Each track can have its own effect chain. Eight aux busses are also supported, each with their own chain. Chains can be made up of VST effects and/or AudioUnits (OS X only). All effects can be automated. Real-time editing is encouraged. Software audio play-thru allows the original audio to be recorded regardless of what plug-ins are currently in use.
New to this version:
Brand new plug-ins window. Now compatible with Metro color schemes. Sortable by manufacturer, name or user defined category. Specify categories by control (right) clicking.
New to 6.1.0.5. If a saved Metro document is locked or if it is stationery, Metro will require a save as. This facilitates the creation of templates.
New: If the last section in the section window is deleted and there are more than 32 sections then the total number of sections is reduced.
New:. If the option-key is held down when importing a MIDI file Metro will makes lyrics insert as markers instead of sending them to the notepad window.
New: There are several new remote control events. Output Vol (+/-), Output Pan (+/-), Track mute, Track solo, Track arm and Track select.
New: Added new feature that allows Direct recording of Core Audio outputs. Individual outputs can be selected as the input for record enabled tracks. This works around problems with some AU's (namely DLSMusicDevice) which causes its output to be unpredictable in non real-time situations, such as during mix or render audio tracks.
Fixed bug where a time-stretched-region (option-click) would not play back correctly until playback was stopped and then restarted.
Fixed a crash which could occur if an off-line audio port were used as the output of the Apple DLSMusicDevice.
Fixed a crash that could occur if synth plug-ins were in use and an edit was performed on a section event (tempo, key signature, etc.) either directly in the sections editor window or indirectly through a dialog (for example, the tempo dialog).
Fixed a audio overview display problem with stereo tracks.
Worked around a problem in CoreAudio that was causing some labels in the effect parameter display of the Graphic Editor to erroneously show a logarithmic scale instead of a linear one.
Fixed a problem that could cause the loading of user saved VST presets to fail.
Dynamically created program names from synth plug-ins were not always loading when opening saved Metro documents.
Fixed a problem where the section time could be displayed wrong in the sections window.
Markers are now clipped properly when scrolled in the Graphic Editor window.
Fixed some display problems introduced in the OS X version of 6.1.0.4.
Fixed a potential crash that could occur in Metro's popup menu handler.
Fixed a problem where in some rare cases, audio latency was not being properly accounted for.
Fixed a couple of problems related to Tap Tempo. Metro was not calculating the tempo on every beat. In some cases Tap Tempo was not working at all. As of 6.1.0.5, Tap Tempo has been completely rewritten to be more accurate under OS X.
Fixed a color problem with LowTech color scheme.
Cut and Paste in the lyrics window was broken. This has been fixed.
Fixed a bug that was causing older bundle (pre 6.0) files to return a -39 error. This problem was caused by an incompatibility introduced when our development tools were upgraded.
Clearing a recent item menu only worked until Metro restarted. This has been fixed so that the items are permanently cleared. This is important as recent items may significantly slow startup on some machines.
