Apple's new stuff

Friday October 17, 2003. 09:41 PM, by clouvel (translated by barpi75) Apple > Apple
Apple : Apple's new stuff - macmusicThe Apple press conference is just over : It was a very music-slanted conference (Steve Jobbs with a piano on the stage, chatting with Bono, Mick Jagger).

In details, not much new stuff but "music for the masses" :

- 3rd generation iPod, thiner than 2 CD boxes, now offering a 10 000 song storage capacity (40 Go model), more than 670 hour recording capacity (mic/phone kit at $49) with latest Itune synchro. Apple also releases a 20 000 pictures capacity iPod storage kit at $99, now iPhoto supported.

- The iTunes Music Store, which represents 70% of the legal world on-line music sell bizness, is now selling audio books (5 000 already available). The iTunes music store and iTunes are now PC compatible with the Mac interface, also support PC CD burning. You can only download iTunes at
www.itunes.com.

- The iTunes Music Store accepts "gift-check" (from $10 à 100), and also parental authorizations.

- At last, Apple announces a Pepsi Cola partnership which will start at Superbowl in february (with songs to win in Pepsi's bottles !!!)..

A few time after the Apple Expo, one could'nt expect incredible news from this press conference. However, downloading addicts who were getting impatient to see Music Store and iTunes PC compatible should be glad. But not a Jobs's word about the Europe and rest of the world downloading service availibility.

iTunes 4.1 and iPod 2.1 softwares are already available with the update software utilities.

And for those who absolutly want the new iPod and its accessories, check out the Apple Store.
