Here's a new ProTools Corner issue by our VIP Moderator Brian White from audioMIDI.com. This time he focuses on the brand new version of Auto-Tune, the famous pitch correcting plug-in from Antares.
"Love it or hate it, vocal tuning or "pitch correction" is a technology that is here to say. And whether or not you feel it is "morally" correct/in-correct to artificially tune vocals and other instruments, it is hard to deny the dramatic influence pitch correction has had on pop music over the last decade. Primacoustic unveils Machine Room.
Computers need to blow off steam in order to continue to function correctly, but this cathartic action results in lots of noise, fan noise in particular for computers. The Machine Room silences your computer while still allowing for proper convection cooling. Cool air intake at the bottom of the chamber allows heated air to rise to the top, where it is forced out by a variable-speed fan. That fan is sound-abated by a foam-lined manifold, and positioned at the rear of the enclosure for near silent operation.
The Machine Room is designed specifically to fit a Mac Pro Tower, but will fit anything smaller than 30" high, 16" wide and 24" deep. The Machine Room is available at a retail price of $650.

Oct 3 - 12:47 PM | Audio Hardware > Telefunken |
Telefunken USA have relaunched the U48 large-diaphragm tube microphone, over 50 years after it was first introduced by the original company. The U48 is almost identical to the legendary U47, the only difference being in the choice of polar patterns on offer: the U47 operates in cardioid and omni modes, while the U48 has cardioid and figure-of-eight patterns.
Like their U47, Telefunken USA's U48 ships in a smart briefcase, which safely houses the bulky power supply, a shockmount and the cable.
