Music Hardware : Clavia Modular G2 on OS X the 5th of July - macmusicClavia announced today the availability of the free OSX editor for the Modular G2 on the 5th of July, it's a little later than advertised at the Musikmesse, but it's here at last. A BIG thank you to Clavia! (it'll be as usual downloadable from Clavia site)

New features in V1.20
- Supports Mac OSX
- Supports the new 5-octave model G2X
- Some new modules have been added:
- Metallic Noise Oscillator and Noise Oscillator.
- FM operator and DX router are great for creating sounds of the eighties.
- A new group, Random, is included. 6 new modules that are very helpful for adding more "life" to your patches. Help you get an organic retro feel. Also for algorithmic composition etc.
- Pitch Shifter and Scratch are added to the list of effects.
- MIDI Control Automate supports even more flexible MIDI setups.
- Several bug fixes, which especially improves MIDI synchronization.
- New function added. Tools/Deassign All MIDI, clears MIDI assignments.
- New function, Synth/Dump One. Equivalent to Dump One in the instrument's menu.

Clavia anounced that the G2X will be on sale in August for the ones who can't live without a 5 octave keyboard and many others bells and whistles. It'll be in the shops at around €2850 / $3500

Audio Hardware : Windpac, wind stopper - macmusicShaped as a Zeppelin, it can stand winds up to 100 km/h and is obviously sound wise transparent. No no it is not a large suppository, no but his latest wind stopper protection for microphones will be a serious challenger for the traditional "Rycote" one.

It is designed by DPA, which in itself is a good sign of quality .

Music Software : Friday not Fish day but Digi update day ? - macmusicFriday is well known to be the Fish meal day but apparently Digidesign is willing to compete since most of their recent update release seems to occur on a friday. Maybe because it's a special day not in the week any longer and not yet the week-end or because they're is no hot line on the week-end ?;o)

Nevermind today Digidesign is offering a new version of their Core Audio 6.5.2. Apparently the old one was not so complete as it seems.

Good lunch !...... oops sorry ! Good download !

Apple : Apple's itunes Music Store - macmusicA great deal of virtual chatting has been flowing, and government official announcements about VAT have been fusing, all this since the iTunes Music Store was launched in France. The record industry is still and always complaining, but the iTunes Music Store is gaining speed and approaching a cruising altitude. Apple claims that ITMS has sold over 800.000 songs during it's first week in the English-French-German zone, of which almost 450.000 sales in the UK alone.
