Sep 30 - 04:50 PM | Event > Ircam |
Worth saying, as these events are few and far between: IRCAM, the famous French Comtemporary Music Research Institute, is organizing a Musical Freeware meeting, as part of the "Résonances 2003" event.
The event will present freeware and its concrete uses on multiple operating systems, including Agnula, JMax, OpenMusic, and so on.
This meeting is Thursday October 23rd, 10 AM to 6 PM, at IRCAM's Studio 5 (1, place Igor-Stravinsky, 75004 Paris). Registration is required but free (take the opportunity -- it's one free IRCAM event out of two in the year), and you can register email at: Sylvie.Benoit@ircam.fr. Ed: Not in Paris? Check out freeware on IRCAM's site. -PK

The september 29th of 1997 in the intimacy of a simple web page, a little and promissing baby came to life. His parents choose to name him MacMusic (they tried Georges and Margareth but it didn't sound that nice!). With patience, tenacity from their conceptors it became the #1 website dedicated to music on MacIntosh, with a community of about 20.000 members scattered all around the world.
It's with a real joy that in this date of september 29th of 2003, we blow the sixth candle of our favorite website, with one wish in mind: Long life to MacMusic!

Sep 28 - 10:27 AM | Rumor > Digidesign |
There's a (pleasant) rumour going round about Digidesign and G5 ... The G5 family (1.6-GHz, 1.8-GHz, 2.0-GHz) would support Digi 002, Digi 002 Rack and mBox.

Sep 26 - 04:30 PM | Music Software > Sibelius |
Sibelius has introduced Sibelius 3, a major upgrade to the music notation software. We'll offer an exclusive look at this new release soon, but in the meantime, here's an overview of new features.
170 new features have been added, plus a special collaboration with Native Instruments to design a special version of Kontakt to play back music using high-quality instrument samples (no more cheap-sounding QuickTime Musical Instruments!), burn compositions to CD, and create audio files for the Web. Here are a few of the more interesting enhancements:
Font smoothing Mac OS X's font smoothing already made Sibelius for OS X look substantially better than OS 9 versions of Sibelius and Finale, but a new display setting will smooth all graphical elements on the screen for a look closer to ...
